The amount of WEEE we throw away is increasing by around 5% each year, making it the fastest growing waste stream in the UK. Much of the UK’s WEEE ends up in landfill, where the lead and other toxins it contains can cause soil and water contamination. This can have a harmful effect on natural habitat, wildlife and also human health. Furthermore, many electrical items that we throw away can be repaired or recycled. Recycling items helps to save our natural finite resources and also reduces the environmental and health risks associated with sending electrical goods to landfill.

Any product displaying the crossed out wheelie bin symbol means that these items should not be disposed of in the normal waste and should be separated out for recycling.

As a retailer of Electrical or Electronic Equipment (EEE) we have certain obligations under the WEEE Directive and we are keen to do as much as possible to support environmental initiatives.

As such, we enable our customers to send back their WEEE free of charge to us using our free returns service. This will be on a one-for-one basis, as long as the new equipment is of a similar type and has the same function as the old equipment (i.e. if you purchase a phone charger from us and would like us to dispose of your old defunct phone charger, we will enable you to do this).
